July's Almost Gone, August Is Almost Here, and The Brick Is Still Unbeatable!

Ya didn't think I'd let July slip away without an update, did ya? Yeah, I wasn't so sure either. It's not because things aren't hopping in my little corner of the comicbook world, though. Actually, it's because things are hopping in my little corner of the comicbook world (oh, plus the real-life addition of a brand new gorgeous granddaughter, Joanna Bethany Smith) that I'm so long in posting. Makes you kind of curious about what's happening, huh? Then, read on, Macduff!

Ash-Aman chapter three will appear in Will Lill Comics' Fun Adventure Comics! #9! That magnificent mag will be out around August 15, so don'tcha miss it! Here's the cover for the ish, as well as the superior splash page by the oh-so-talented Russ Martin...

The big news from Surprising Comics, publisher of Surprising Universe, former home of Unbeatable Brick, is that it's now an imprint of Lucky Comics (Beetle Girl et al)! Notice I said that Surprising Universe is the "former home" of Unbeatable Brick? Well, shed no tears! Now that Lucky is publishing the Mark Davis' Surprising heroes, Unbeatable Brick (as well as Skyscraper and Depthon) will be getting their own 8 page b&w mags in the tradition of the Lucky line of comics! That means that, any day now, you'll be able to get your hands (or digits, if you prefer .pdf) on your very own copy of Unbeatable Brick #1! That's right, the origin of Unbeatable Brick from the super-rare Surprising Universe number one-and-only (with awesome art by David Johnson Jr.) will be reprinted in ish #1, then brand new stories, written by yours truly and illustrated by  artists like Donnie Page, JW Erwin, Joe Graves, and more, will come your way starting in ish number two! Dig the covers (yep, Lucky does variants!) to ish #1 by JW Erwin and David Johnson Jr.!

Speaking of Dy-no-mite Donnie Page, he and I have been working on a few more projects that are gonna knock you out! One featuring the public domain hero The Owl...

And, as mentioned above, a brand new Unbeatable Brick tale! Check out this splash (literally, it's a splash!)…

Finally, Lucky Comics publisher John Helmer has made me a very tempting offer to bring my old company, Blue Moon Comics, out of retirement as a Lucky Comics imprint. Is it time for the Blue Moon to rise again? We're gonna test the waters with a rarely-seen Blue Moon superhero called The Luminary. If you like it, there could be more to come. Stay tuned!

The Comics Are Coming, the Comics Are Coming!

It's true! All the talk is about to become reality as Will Lill Comics is officially releasing Fun Adventure Comics #1 (featuring my Alex Miracle and Midnight Stranger stories) on July 20! Warren (Montgomery, publisher of Will Lill) sent me some comp copies and they are glorious! Cardstock covers, high-grade white paper stock, and magnificent colors by Warren. Come on a Fun Adventure with us! (Oh, and for those of you who prefer digital comics, ComiXology will, indeed, be carrying Fun Adventure Comics #1!)

Also, hot on its heels, comes Beetle Girl #3 from Lucky Comics! BG is scheduled to go on sale during the first week of August, and will be available in both .pdf and print. Beetle Girl is the brainchild of Lucky Comics publisher John Helmer and I love her! She's a sassy, powerful lady, who just happens to be the granddaughter of the original Blue Beetle! In my story she battles a new version of original BB villain the Sphinx, and boy is he a stinker!

Cover art is by Marcelo Trom and Brad Eastburn, and the interior art is by Eric Douthitt! Keep watching the Lucky Comics blog for more info! Why? 'Cause John Helmer and I have co-plotted a super-special comic in which Beetle Girl teams up with a member of...are you ready for this...a member of POWER CORPS! Yep, one of my old Blue Moon super-dupers is making a comeback in Lucky Comics in a special issue of Beetle Girl!
Beetle Girl Meets...? One of these folks...

Still have a ton of stories that I NEED ARTISTS FOR! GUNS N ROSA, KRAGOR, a couple of brand new heroes (one is COSMIC and the other is a crime-fighter in the vein of Daredevil and The Batman), aaaaaaaand I'm working on...the return of The Black Rose!
Join me in some adventures, won't you?

When It Rains, It Pours...Good Stuff!

Happy Summer, y'all! Been a while since I've posted, but don't take that as a sign that things are slow 'round here! Nope! Tons-o-comicbook-fun going on right now! I'm writing some stories, creating some more new characters, waiting to see more awesome art on some stories I've already completed, aaaaaand looking forward to seeing some of my stuff in print! Here's a run-down of what's happenin'...

Coming July 20 from Will Lill Comics is Fun Adventure Comics #1! Warren has copies of that gem (featuring two of my creations, Alex Miracle and Midnight Stranger) in hand right now...

...Joe Koziarski is hard at work on the second Midnight Stranger mini-epic for FAC #2! Here's Bruce Cashman's cover art (colored by publisher Warren Montgomery)...

...David Johnson, Jr. is turning out some masterful pages on Hugh Hazzard and Robo the Iron Man for Golden Era Comics! Here's one...

...along with Luis Rivera's captivating Robo cover...

... Eric Douthitt is pushing that talented pencil for our new Beetle Girl story for Lucky Comics...

...all this, and I'm working on a super-hero parody for Charlton Neo/Pix-C with Dave Rawlins (STILL need an artist for Guns N Rosa--c'mon, folks...!)...

...and developing brand new Golden Age character, Wardoll, with David Johnson, Jr...

...and I have new Kragor stories coming out my ears (I need artists, dangit!), plus a couple new top-secret super-heroes with a strong (naturally) Bronze Age style!

Anyone out there wanna join me in all this fun, either as an artist, a reader, or both? C'mon! I'm having a blaaaaaaast!! Meantime, I'd better get to work on the next Midnight Stranger script...
